45 underage prisoners of fascist camps were awarded with the medals "Unconquered"

On April 11 at the National Museum of the Udmurt Republic Kuzebay Gerd, an honourable awarding the medals "Unconquered" to minor prisoners of fascist camps event took place in Izhevsk.

The event is timed to the International Day for the Liberation of Prisoners of Fascist Concentration Camps, which is established in memory of the international uprising of prisoners of the Buchenwald concentration camp that took place on April 11, 1945.

The solemn event was attended by Deputy Head of the Administration of Izhevsk Denis Loginov, Chairman of the Public Chamber of the Udmurt Republic Rashid Khusnutdinov, Deputy of the City Council of Izhevsk Bakhruz Gumbatov, Head of the Administration of Ustinovsky District Vladimir Filimonov.

“We all feel proud of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and grieve for the great losses suffered by our people. Now it is very difficult for us to imagine what you went through in those years. But we remember history, we remember your great achievements. I would like to wish you and your loved ones good health,” Denis Loginov greeted the participants at the National Museum.

“The path you have walked is tragic. And these medals are just a small thank you for your heroism, for the peaceful sky above our heads,” addressed Bakhruz Gumbatov to the veterans.

The event followed by a minute of silence in memory of the fallen heroes of the war. For veterans and all those present, students of the Youth Information Resource Center prepared a theatrical performance about prisoners of concentration camps.

The presentation of the medals “Unconquered” took place on the initiative of the Deputy Bakhruz Gumbatov, who was approached by a resident of Izhevsk, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War. With the assistance of the Ministry of Social Policy and Labor of the Udmurt Republic, Department of Social Support of the Population, Family, Motherhood and Childhood of the City Administration collected information on 45 war veterans – minor prisoners of the fascist camps living in Izhevsk.


The Medal “Unconquered” was approved by the Heraldry Committee under the President of the Russian Federation №309 in 2008. The medal appeared on the initiative of the Russian Union of Former Minor Prisoners of Fascist concentration camps and was timed to the 20th anniversary of the creation of the International Union of this organization.
